Fear in a Name

Terrorism, schizophrenia, pandemic, viral, fatal, chronic.
Fantastical Association creeps up and awakens the caveman.
He fights invisible enemies, roaring at chancers and socialites.
Cravings: needs overwhelm and then an omnipresent ATTACK!

Safety, safety, safety, safety, safety, safety, afety, sssss, saffffety ssaffeety, saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafeety,
The cave for a break.

Beige coloured and meandering, Consistent Dullness wares at him.
The smoothness of surfaces, the randomness of friends,
A goodness in people: stroking his hair like a pet.
He purrrsss: "Who cares about safety? Let me sleep."

A name is just letters: L E T T E R S.
The caveman is made horrific by the P A N in pandemic or the S C H I Z in schizophrenia. He is smaller than the letters; they can eat him. He rrrrrrrrages at them from behind his sofa, until he thinks:

What lurks behind them?

Culture,
society,
the Enlightenment(?),
Economics (??),
baked beans,
fruit pastilles,
masturbation or
just cheese on toast?
