'I have travelled...'

I have travelled for twenty miles,
And still I can see you, stretching,
Reaching into Scotland, forcibly
Its backbone.

In the gloaming, my car
Begins to grumble, and the sky
Fades slowly, while for you,

In your gloaming, the waters
Ingest a patch of sky blue, and
Swallow it in dark emerald.

A silhouette of mountains
Is left for a few minutes in my
Rear view mirror, the day
Reduced to sparkles in the dark.
