Pass Over

Down Crescent Moon Lane
                  over the Wey's shaky bridge

past the lilac heavy hedge, past
                  the white butterfly skirting

the hawthorn, past the cemetery
                  with the churchyard billboard

Know the meaning of Contemporary Faith

                  three green balloons

                    blown
                                    through air

quiver in a fitful wind, collide and part
                  collide and part

back and forth, east to west,
                  ribbons anchored to the ash.
